The success of Firefly is partly due to the fact she was a part of Whedon's next TV hit, Firefly. Summer Glau's River Tam was a complicated persona that Glau managed with ease. Tam is required to participate in government-sponsored experiments that help her become the greatest assassin. Tam's capacity to control her emotions has been taken from her. Glau was able to display her combat abilities as well as her acting talent on Firefly. Glau had the ability to utilize her athletic abilities because she had been trained as a sleuth. Summer Glau is a classically trained ballerina. Her broken toe, however, that put the end of her dancing career. Firefly was on only for the duration of one episode, but was a huge hit with its fans. So passionate that Whedon came back to the show just a couple of years after. Summer Glau was still getting quality work in the interim. She was seen on TV shows like Cold Case and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
